Great takeaway position in the first picture. Shaft along the toe-line with face matching your spine angle. In the 2nd frame we can see the face pretty open on the downswing (pointing to the sky) because that is the match up for having an extreme out to in swing path (swinging too far to the left) through the ball.

Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

We worked a couple drills and exercises to help you feel a better weight/pressure shift. During the rehearsals you can see in the first picture that you have nice extended arms through the ball with open hips and a good pressure shift forward. The only issue with the first picture is the club face is wide open so when we actually put a golf ball down you can see that you have to slow your chest down and throw your arms/hands to get the face back to square even with a good weight shift and open hips. This is just proof that the face is king and the body will always respond to the club face position.

After 2 different exercises we landed on this one that ultimately had the most success in shifting your club path more out to the right through the shot. You can see the club working much more under the neutral plane line and and release out above it to indicate the club is moving more in the out through the hitting zone. Below you’ll see pictures of the exercise we setup to produce this change.

Setup position in first picture looks great. Center line drawn to show how your body stays behind the ball too much and produces a severe left swing path (pivoting around back foot). Even post impact when club is parallel to the ground you can see the body still well behind the line. Reference pictures below to see correction.

In the video above we moved on from a pressure shift, in order to achieve the goal of moving the club path more to the right, to a way to stop the right arm from straightening too early which can also cause a path too far out to in. By placing a headcover, glove, or towel under the right armpit it allows you to train the right arm to stay close to the body all the way through the shot. This is a good drill to work on from time to time but we still did not get the results that we would like.

This video shows how to setup for your go-to fairway finder shot when the full swing isn’t feeling great. The trick is to tee your ball up very low with the driver and try and hit down on the ball with the intention of taking a divot like an iron. Because it is a driver head it will not be able to dig into the ground like an iron and it will twist the head open 99% of the time which will produce a predictable low left to right ball flight.

Here’s a good video for reference on what were working on. Notice the impact position in the picture below and how his pressure has shifted forward with the back foot coming off the ground and the hips cleared out of the way to allow full arm extension threw the shot.
