Lesson #1

February 18th 2020

Hey Treat! Here’s photos from the posture test. Third frame is your ideal posture for a full swing golf shot. Last frame is the right hand/arm test to see what your dominant position is. You tested as a side-cover (meaning mostly on the side and slightly on top) so your right hand grip should always be on the side of the handle while favoring the top side rather than underneath. This test reveals the optimal position for your dominant arm so that your swing may start working with you rather than against your natural mechanics.

Once again here is your ideal posture for a full swing. When you look to the right you should see some differences. The posture on the right was where you were at during swings throughout the lesson. Try to add more bend from the hip joints to get into the correct posture, rather than sitting in posture with the spine upright.

The last video here to the left is after we introduced your ideal hinge type. For every right arm/hand position there is a hinging method that matches it to give you the optimal leverage and power at the top of your swing. For a side-cover golfer we want to hinge the club more diagonally towards your right shoulder during the backswing. Other options include horizontal hinging and vertical hinging which will not suit your body’s natural mechanics. It looks and feels funky now but the more you practice it the more natural it will feel. Next lesson when we start to work on your pivot it will all start to match up a little better. Good work and see you soon!
