Lesson #2
March 13th 2020
Hey Treat! Here’s a snapshot of your ideal golf posture for a full swing shot. Just make sure your weight is on the balls of your feet and that, when you take your right hand off the club and place it on your thigh, your fingertips touch the top of your knee.
You should notice some great progression as we work through these videos. We started here with introducing a “clearing” action to start the downswing which will enable us to maintain posture while rotating and not causing an early extension of the pelvis.
Further refining the delivery action once the “clear” (squat) is completed which by the way is when the club is parallel to the ground. That’s the cue to start the delivery motion.
After lots of rehearsals of some new feels for the downswing we started to connect those new feels to a golf ball and an actual golf shot. The best way to learn something knew is to do it slowly and to break it up into parts. By rehearsing the clear and then the deliver motion in a “punch shot” style will ensure good results and long lasting changes.
Another look from a different angle. Here the rough draft is in place and you are learning how to combine the squat into a delivery with some extension of the lead leg and arms.
Very good impact rehearsals here with the final piece of getting your weight off your back foot. Impact is always king so I encourage lots of rehearsals like this to feel proper impact. Notice how well your glutes stay against the “wall” and how your hips and torso rotate in posture vs. early extending to the ball.
Great final look at the finished product of our lesson. You now have a great pre-shot routine “feel” that you can generate before every shot and increase your overall quality of shots.
